This one-time, 90-minute “class” is given over the telephone! You can be anywhere in the world and benefit from taking this class! It is all about teaching you – no puppy needed at class!
Having a new puppy can be (or feel) overwhelming! But when you’re armed with a ton of knowledge, you won’t feel so overwhelmed and you will be able to enjoy that sweet puppy more, knowing you are raising him the very best way and doing all the right things!
I’m a professional dog trainer with almost 30 years of experience successfully teaching people how to raise their puppies well. I’m also a dog breeder and routinely teach my new puppy owners how to best raise their pups! You will learn a LOT about bringing up your puppy the best way possible and about making things easier for yourself while doing the right things for your pup.
What will you learn? A lot!! Here’s some of what we’ll cover:
- Housebreaking. The basics of how to successfully housetrain, troubleshooting, pros and cons of different methods, rewards/punishment, etc
- Crate-training. Why and how it works, how to humanely use a crate as a housebreaking tool, sample schedule, misconceptions, troubleshooting, how to teach your pup
to love and seek out his crate, how to housetrain if you really don’t want to use a crate - Mouthing/teething. How best to deal with the painful mouthing on your hands, clothing etc; how best to stop your pup from chewing on your belongings; why pups mouth; suitable chewies, etc
- Socialization. Importance of socialization, fear periods, timing, and safe ways to socialize your pup with other dogs, people, places, and things!
- Normal development. What to expect from your puppy as he develops.
- Necessary supplies. What you need for your new puppy: best toys, best chewies; other must-haves
- Vaccinations. Broad overview of the current protocols for vaccinations, what and when, what each is for, keeping your pup safe until fully vaccinated
- Training. Overview of obedience training, how to find a good facility/trainer, what to look for, what to ask, what to expect from your puppy.

- Who is this class best for? This class is perfect for people who have never had a puppy before, haven’t had one in a while, or just want a reminder of what a new pup
requires! - When should I take this class? This class is best taken before you bring home your new puppy. But if you already have your pup, that’s completely okay too! Just take it as soon as possible!
- I’ve had my puppy a while – can I still take this? Depends! This class is best for people who have pups up to about 5 months old.
- How does payment work? Payment needs to be received before our phone call takes place. You can easily pay online through PayPal (you do NOT need a PayPal account), or you can pay through your bank’s Zelle app, or we can run your credit card over the phone.
- Is it very expensive? No! It’s just $60 for the full hour and a half!
